Staying Fit While Travelling

Since we retired, maintaining our fitness and health has become more important to us. We want to enjoy our retirement as much as possible, and that includes travelling and generally being active.

While travelling in both Japan and Korea, we have joined local gyms. In Japan, we joined a government-run gym. It wasn’t as well-equipped as a private gym, but it had everything we needed and was exceedingly cheap, costing about $1.50 per session.

In Korea, we joined Gymbox, which costs about $27 per month. As a foreigner, they provided a QR code that downloaded an app you could use and pay for the subscription and also to check in at the gym. The app is only in Korean, but the staff helped out in getting me up and running

I have to say I am very impressed with Gymbox. There is a ton of equipment, friendly staff, great music, and a real vibe that makes you want to train hard.

We have been attending the gym about 4 days a week, and I am a lot fitter than a couple of months ago
